A Moment of Meditation…
We have all witnessed the recent terrorist events in the United States. In these times of psychological and spiritual crisis, we who deeply appreciate the Way of Peace and Love can contribute to the total scheme of harmony by directing our daily thoughts to the highest levels of our understanding.
Our daily thoughts, feelings and acts
Contribute to the total scheme of Peace.
By living to give and serving others
We become a source of inspiration.
By making peace with others we bring peace to ourselves…
Because we are all ONE with God.
The way of Peace is the way of love. Only when enough of us find INNER PEACE will we have peace in the world. The decision depends on each of us.
I invite you to focus, for as long is it may be necessary, on the following affirmations of peace.
I welcome every phase of life within my soul.
I dedicate my world to God in every thought and act.
My being is the shrine of indwelling light and love.
I now have found the sunshine of divine compassion.
I give the world a fellowship of faith.
It is my conviction that the constant use of these affirmations while our planet is in the process of making vital decisions will create a shining Light contributing to Peace in the world.

New Peace Pilgrim Center
|The Friends of Peace Pilgrim, traditionally in Hemet, are now in a pleasant new home in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Welcome to the culmination of a dream! With the aid of three volunteers, thousands of books and other materials were transported recently to Somerset, California, near Placerville (between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe). John, now 83, supervised the packing, having carefully and clearly identified the many different editions involved. A new neighbor donated a piano to cheer those inspired to play and for the pleasure of hosts and guests.
This magnificent project has been made possible thanks to a generous donation of $110.000 (U.S.) from Kathy Miller for the initial payment to acquire the property.

During my exploration of the Grand Canyon in Arizona, (United States), I had the opportunity for the first time to be near native American communities which actively maintain their ancestral cultures and traditions. One of these communities is the Hopi group, a pacific people, direct descendants of the prehistoric agricultural central Anasazis. The Hopis dedicate themselves to cultivate parcels of maize irrigated at the base of plateaus. The small Hopi Reservation is concentrated in towns on three plateaus in northeast Arizona, surrounded almost completely by the Navajo Reservation.
My second lucky encounter with the Hopi people was at the United Nations' University for Peace in Costa Rica. I had the honor to meet Roy LittleSun during a magnificent celebration of a well-known ceremony, the 'Circle of Hearts', on the eve of the academic seminar and dedication ceremony of the Peace Pilgrim statue.
The 'Circle of Hearts' originated at the Titus Farm, (Hopiland / Arizona) as an initiative to remove personal barriers and has since been built in several locations around the world.
Some of the elements of the thought, heart and soul that constitute the 'Circle of Hearts' follow. (An abstract taken from the information received from Roy during the ceremony).
"Oneness is our origin. By separating ourselves into the 'the ten thousand things' we gain consciousness on many levels and become able to explore many depths and capacities..... Oneness is the status of the free being and it stands above nationality, race, religion or any other temporary identity. Genesis begins with Oneness and all other notions of origin sooner or later have to end in the acknowledgement of the true basis of being. This is what is happening today. We come to this point either in peace or through conflict... The choice is up to each one of us.
The Liberation of Humanity will not come about by means which can be corrupted, but only by the Purity of Heart and Soul. True leadership must come from the Independent Individual's Initiative, uniting all Hearts into One. The Source of Collective Inner Feeling is the Seed of Peace".
The 'Circle of Hearts' is a unifying ceremony around a Medicine Wheel, consisting of 108 stones forming a spoked wheel. The intention is to dissolve all fences that ultimately need to be defended with costly and cruel wars. All wars are the consequence of the enforcement of dualistic laws attempting to keep exclusive individuals exclusive. The time has arrived for humanity to return to the Self-enforcing One Law of the Infinite Universe which freely and lovingly maintains all life.
The creation of the Medicine Wheel is a conscious process. The stones are gathered in a sacred manner and a prayer is offered before taking them. After Roy's introductory words and other ceremonial acts, a fire is lit in the center of the circle and symbolic boundaries, the things, habits and patterns we no longer need for our evolution, are burned. The ashes acquire a special meaning for the participants.
Throughout the ceremony, it is essential that one's intent of the creation of the One heart remains focused on the central fire. With the growth of 'Circle of Hearts' around the world we hope global healing will also increase.
The 'Circle of Hearts' is, among other things:
A portal of freedom.
A sacred space and common ground or global peace zone.
A space around which all Hearts can consciously unite.
A microcosm of the Earth and beyond.
A space for receiving a vision and inspiration.

This letter arrived at California...
I am very happy to announce your books have brought peace to many people of my country, having greatly helped those with psychological and spiritual problems. Many people have initiated dialogues instead of violence.
I have used your books for 10 years to spread peace in Nigeria, including visits to many remote towns. It cheers me to spread peace to religious people, Christians and non-Christians, as well as to those who aren't. We are gradually organizing seminars in which we use your books.
I can now speak of 467 agents of peace in 36 states in the country.

Those of us in Enlace have found ourselves immersed in a personal and social development process which reflects our desire for inner and world PEACE. One of our readers believes it would be a good idea to share in this publication anecdotes and experiences, items that help a person to look inwardly and explore new possibilities for the attainment of inner peace.
I invite you to send your personal anecdotes to me so they can be used as inspirational examples for all who belong to our circle of friends!

John, the Walker
"A little more than a year ago, I met a man of about 70 or 80 in the 'Plaza Central' of Santa Cruz (Bolivia)", says Hans Frederiksen. He continues... "This man had a long white beard and white hair, and was preaching a message of peace. He called himself simply 'John, the Walker'. I noticed particularly his form of dress, a rough coat, as he distributed copies of his message. We talked a little and he told me of his call from God which made him leave everything and travel, sharing his message. As we departed I gave him the gift of Peace Pilgrim's book."
Hans continues to hear from him: "After almost a year I received an email from Brazil, in which he sends me greetings and tells of the next travels he is thinking of making in different South American countries. All these trips are done on faith, without a single cent in his pocket. His only possessions are a comb, toothbrush, and heavy coat in case of cold weather."
John, the Walker has found his mission in life and dedicates his body and soul to its accomplishment. He speaks with enthusiasm of peace, love, and becoming closer to God.
Prayer to God
God is in my being and in that which I am becoming
God is in my principles, values and my vision of the future
God is in the beauty I perceive and in my actions.
God is in my mind and in what I think
God is in my heart and in what I feel
God is in my mouth and in what I say
God is in my intuition and in my actions
God is in my hands and in which I give.
God is my path.
God is in me ...

There is a supreme virtue
That we must cultivate

A Deep Desire…
Allow my soul to smile from my heart
Allow my heart to smile from my eyes
That I may spread the richness of a smile to all hearts filled with sadness.
Vision of the Future
Taking the responsible way towards the heights
towards the harmony in sequence from the spheres, I extend a peace rainbow.

Peace and Her Work (index)
"Beauty comes from the soul and when this is dominant in the active spiritual life it reflects clearly in the facial expressions and behavior of the person. I encounter all of this, among many other beautiful things, in Peace Pilgrim. I always am astonished when I see the impact she has on lives, and in the simple, and at the same time wise, way of living and showing how to live spiritually. I have numerous examples of people for whom the lesson of her life not only aids understanding but also stimulates the soul to search and apply in life and inner work that which she demonstrates simultaneously in a special and simple way".
" I felt relief in my soul when I read the life and work of Peace Pilgrim. I feel deep admiration for that extraordinary lady, the source of love."

What is Silence? (extract)
"This work on silence, from an unknown author, has been with me for 32 years and I feel it has a singular force. I am convinced that without the strength of silence, Peace Pilgrim would not have been able to complete her work. In the Pythagorean school, the disciples had to practice silence for 5 years for the inner philosopher to emerge, and for this reason they were called the 'acusmtics' or 'acusticoi'."
Néstor Hugo Almagro, Argentina
SILENCE is to remember that all words have a today and a tomorrow; that is to say, a value in the moment and a potential in the future incalculable.
SILENCE is to remember that a word, when articulated, brings with it a part of the necessary energy to fulfill the idea incarnate.
SILENCE is not to expose the idea or the plan realized, nor to partially read the work in draft, so you do not give being to that which is only a yearning.
SILENCE is the seed and as such germinates.
SILENCE is the root and as such sustains.
SILENCE is to concentrate, to follow your own path, to do your own work, to fulfill your own aim.
SILENCE is to meditate, to measure, to weigh, to assay and to purify.
SILENCE is the cocoon where the caterpillar is transformed into a butterfly.
The Documentary Advances
The Documentary crew did an outstanding job of collecting important Peace Pilgrim materials. Interns from Stanford and other nearby colleges contacted the news media across the country and put together a video of Peace Pilgrim walking through the years. In 1953, at age 44, we see her begin her Pilgrimage and it is a delight to see her being interviewed and answering reporters' questions through 1981.
Documentary producers often use an independent editor to help them and Friends of Peace Pilgrim have found a very capable and inspired editor, Sharon Janis, who plans to work with them to complete the Peace Pilgrim documentary. She comes with considerable experience in the industry and, interestingly, has written two books on spiritual paths. Our Friends in Somerset are enthusiastic about the work to be done.
Friends of Peace Pilgrim have also received sufficient donations to create a Spanish version of the video. Mary Newswanger, our dear friend in Costa Rica, is in charge of this part of the project. Thank you, Mary, for your great contribution!
Enlace on the Internet
Thanks to the invaluable collaboration of Bruce Nichols, the Peace Pilgrim internet web master, most Enlaces are on the internet. Our friend has enriched the presentation of our bulletin by including his own beautiful photos and other special symbols for peace. I invite you to consult bulletins 3 to 23 on-line. Soon all of Enlace will be there!
